Spot of Shopping

A spot of shopping...a phrase which I think for once in my life actually applies. I have done a little bit of shopping over the past couple of weeks and here are the fruits of my labour... yes I really did just say that, I'm sure we'll pull through that experience. Despite not technically being able to afford said purchases I have done anyway and to move quickly past the guilt I'll just get on with the photos, it really is easier for us all.

Ootd in Edinburgh

Last week I had the weekend off work and thought it would be a perfect opportunity to get out and catch up on some photography stuff I'm doing right now. My friend Kathy joined me and took some photos of my outfit for me, how exciting! For once it was actually sunny...I know, we are all shocked about sun in Scotland however it was pretty windy which I felt kinda counteracted the sunshine BUT I did get to wear sun glasses so in the end it was all okay! Moving on swiftly... I will link my friends photography site below and I hope you like this outfit, it's fairly simple (I literally had to throw it on in five minutes) but I quite like its spring like simplicity, enjoy!

So...funny story...My handbag decided to break whilst I was out so I ended up having to carry it like a clutch (pretty annoying) but it seems to look okay right? I did manage to fix it when I got home but the distress of the whole situation led me to buy a new handbag, what a shame. My tini, tini haul from this day out will be my next post so keep an eye out!

Firstly, I apologise for the annoying hair up and down thing that's going on in this look, but when I was having the photos taken I changed my mind halfway through, how interchangeable! I have also decided that now I think the outfit would be better without the necklace but hey, I do like it either way. Anyway, this outfit is basically a compilation of my favourite things, featuring my grey coat from Zara which over winter I was never out of. I love wearing grey and grey on grey even more...too many 'greys' in the one paragraph I think...but then again it is sort of the purpose of the post.

Hope you enjoyed this fairly short post,

I am totally in love with the Spring/Summer catwalks that appeared a while back and as the clothing has begun to  hit the high street I thought it a sin not to share my favourite trend and top picks for under £35. I wanted to keep this post cheap and cheerful because, lets face it, we can't all afford to spend £60 on one item, it's just not a reality for most people. I'm on a strict budget at the moment so not buying everything here will be a task but there are a couple of things which are catching my eye, if I do happen to spend I will post a few outfits. Anyway! There are a HUGE number of statement styles which appeared during fashion week that I simply couldn't report on them all, so instead I chose my personal favourites and trends I thought were very wearable.

CHECKS

check2

Being Scottish I cannot resist a good check, and I have to be pedantic here and stress the fashion stores do not produce tartan but checks! I wear my ''tartan'' scarf from Zara all the time and I have become a little obsessed with the check jumper from my last post. Its a great staple to have in your wardrobe because it can be played up for night with bold jewellery and heels or you can play it down with jeans or a plain tee. Because it is a pattern you can buy it in, i'm pretty sure, any clothing form; shoes, tops, skirts, shorts, scarves, jeans etc, this means that there will be something to suit you!

CULOTTES AND WIDE LEG TROUSERS

wide legg2

The wide leg trouser and Palazzo trousers will keep coming back again and again because it is just a beautiful garment to own. It's the sort of piece that you can wear any time and time again  it will always flatter you, the cut hides your stomach and, if like me you hate your thighs, it hides them too creating a silhouette which is classy and feminine but styled in a certain way can be very edgy too. When I saw Culottes were on the catwalk I was so excited, I mean they were a staple for me when I was younger along with dungarees. They're cute and flirty, practical too...the only problem is they may be slightly more difficult to pull off but hey, I had to include them for their nostalgic factor, sorry!

PASTELS

Pastels12

pastels22

Now I know Pastels come around every spring but this year they are significantly more muted which makes them more wearable. I love this colour palette and despite struggling to get the colours to flatter my skin tone in the past I have fallen in love with these items so much that I simply must give them another go and so should you if you've been unsure before.

METALLICS

metallic2

I love how subtle a bold metallic piece can be. That sounds ridiculous but you can bring an outfit together and add a whole new dimension with a metallic pair of shoes or a clutch, not only this but you can incorporate this into the Sport Luxe trend as well! There is definitely something attractive about shiny things and I think that because this trend is a bit out there but can be expressed in smaller items is what makes it so wearable. I have the clutch above in Silver (I don't think they do it any more in silver, I looked but they only have gold and metallic blue) and I use it pretty much whenever I go out, it goes with a lot more that you might think.

SHEER

Sheer2

The sheer trend can be, if approached in the wrong way, a tad risky however with the items above I don't think you can go wrong. For the everyday use these garments will be elegant but will still hold that sense of sex appeal that sheer clothing has strong connotations with. I also chose items which incorporate other trends which I didn't get a chance to talk about like the drop waist dress and shift blouse, cheeky I know.

MONOCHROME

These are my slightly more expensive picks that I felt were so gorgeous I had to include them!

I wear black and white pretty much everyday, so now that it's the heights of fashion I feel slightly more justified in my colour lacking palette! You can't go wrong with black and white so make sure the staples are in your wardrobe.

SHIFT BLOUSE

Shift Blouse2

I  like that despite the boxy nature of the shift blouse it is remarkably feminine. It really is the kind of garment which suits everyone and because it is slightly more conservative it always looks pretty on. I often wear mine with my Mom jeans to add some structure and class to the comfy style of the jeans. Another versatile essential.

FULL AND PLEATED SKIRTS

skirt2

If like me you are a massive fan of Blair Eadie who writes the famous Atlantic Pacific blog then you will probably love full skirts. Ever since discovering her I have been dying to buy one of these.  I particularly love the white skirt because I would say I do have a slightly more edgy style and I'm not convinced, despite how much a love it, a blush pleated skirt could be as easily incorporated into my personal wardrobe. BUT they are beautiful and can be worn all year round and I cannot rave enough!

Hope you guys enjoyed this, happy shopping!

Top - HandM - Coat - HandM - Cigarette Trousers - Missguided - Boots - Missguided

The weather here in Scotland is pretty depressing at the moment, not an unusual occurrence to be honest, so a cosy check jumper and shearling coat do the trick in keeping me comfy and cosy. These high waisted trousers give the loose jumper  some needed structure and stops my figure from being lost under the top and coat. Boots are a must when it's wet and cold, I'm sneakily wearing some thick socks to keep my toes warm. To finish the look I just added a statement gold necklace to tie the casual outfit together.

Hope you enjoyed!
